The high number of work injuries, injuries and labor pains in major corporations around the world has led to the rise of various programs related to occupational health and safety. This research aims to examine the influence of work environment and supervision towards the issues of occupational safety and health and its impact on work productivity. This study was conducted at PT. PHG and PT. VVF companies in Indonesia with the number of respondents of 200 employees. The results of this research demonstrate that work environment, supervision, occupational safety and health, and work productivity are good. Therefore, it can be suggested that both companies either PT. PHG or PT. VVF Indonesia, that the quality of occupational safety and health could be enhanced through the improvement of facilities in work environment that meet work safety standards, and increase supervision activities in the efforts of improving the quality of occupational safety and health. Thus, by improving the occupational safety and health, the rise of work productivity can be reached. The limitation of this study reflects the same measurement model in implementation on two different companies. For future research, it is advised to employ the same model to test the same numbers of population with the larger number of samples, so that the research data will be more accurate.

Keywords: work environment, supervision, occupational safety and health, work productivity
Chairil Almy Copyright (c) 2024 https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6445 Mon, 24 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 HAS LEAN MANUFACTURING REMAINED RELEVANT IN THE LAST HALF A DECADE? https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6450
The Lean Manufacturing (LM) approach is founded on two fundamental principles: producing high-quality products at low production costs and satisfying customer demands. Toyota Motor Company introduced LM in the 1940s. With the advancement of technology, a wide range of products need to be efficiently produced to contend with various organisations. This study attempts to determine the significance of LM application in the industries through the last 5 years (2018-2023), using "LM" as the keyword for searching the published studies. The researchers identified 119 research articles using the PRISMA literature review process. After reviewing the papers, they recognised that LM was still relevant even today since the traditional LM tools can resolve 8 waste-related issues noted in the manufacturing line. These problems could be solved by combining the Simulation (SM) process with the Internet of Things (IoT4.0).

Keywords: IoT 4.0, lean manufacturing, PRISMA, simulation, waste
Muhammad Khairul Hamizan Mohamad Zaidi, Effendi Mohamad , Mohd Soufhwee Abd Rahman, Nur Ain Qistina Muhammad Shafee, Mohd Hamdi Abd Shukor, Teruaki Ito Copyright (c) 2024 https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6450 Mon, 24 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP, JOB PERFORMANCE AND EMPLOYEE PERSPECTIVES: AN EXPLORATION https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6451
This study aims to investigate the influence of transformational leadership on job performance among operators in one multinational company located in the southern region of Malaysia. Findings from SmartPLS reveal that there is a significant relationship between transformational leadership and job performance among the studied respondents. It explains that if a leader sets a good example for his or her team, the members of the team will work well together to complete the assigned work. Besides that, a few recommendations were given to the studied company and future research. For the studied company, the leader should provide opportunities for its members to express their opinions and creative solutions for any encountered problems. Meanwhile for future research, it is suggested to conduct this similar study by using a mixed-mode approach which combines qualitative and quantitative methods of data or information collection.

Keywords: transformational leadership, job performance, multinational company
Nurul Syazwana Maizatullah, Shah Rollah Abdul Wahab, Nur Hidayah Ruslan, Dongsu Yoo, Mi-Ja Song, Shahira Abd Jabar Copyright (c) 2024 https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6451 Mon, 24 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 A PROPOSAL OF CONCEPTUAL FRAMEWORK AND RESEARCH DESIGN ON HOW TO ANALYZE THE EFFECT OF TEACHERS' AGENCY ON HIGH SCHOOL ENGLISH CURRICULUM REFORM https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6460
The formal release and full implementation of the General High School English Curriculum Standard (2017 Edition) has propelled China’s high school English curriculum reform into a new stage. As teachers are the key participants and practitioners of high school English curriculum reform, figuring out the relationship between high school English curriculum reform and teachers’ agency and whether teachers can improve their agency to better realize the anticipated achievements of high school English curriculum reform has become an inevitable topic. In order to fulfill the above purposes, this paper proposes the conceptual framework and research design on how to analyze the effect of teachers' agency on high school English curriculum reform. In the proposed conceptual framework, the independent variable is the high school English curriculum reform while the dependent variable is English teachers' agency which is moderated by moderator variables such as teachers’ profile and the ecosystem of teachers. In the proposed research design, the methodology is mix-mode research combined with quantitative and qualitative research which can dig out the in-depth relationship between teachers' agency and high school English curriculum reform and thus point out the methods to help teachers improve their agency and fulfill the tasks bestowed to the by the high school English curriculum reform.

Keywords: high school English teachers, high school English curriculum, reform teacher’s agency
Zhou Jiawei, Hanipah Hussin, Hu Shuoli, Wang Qian, Wang Jia, Jin Hua Copyright (c) 2024 https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6460 Mon, 17 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 AN EXPLANATORY RESEARCH OF ENGLISH WRITING TEACHING WITH INTERNET PLUS TOOLS IN THE PERSPECTIVE OF MEMETICS https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6461
This study investigates the integration of a memetic approach in English writing instruction utilizing Internet Plus tools. The research seeks to offer a comprehensive exploration of the impact of this approach on students' writing proficiency, their attitudes toward writing, and their motivation to learn English. Employing an explanatory research design that combines qualitative and quantitative methods, the study collects data through surveys, interviews, and observations of students' writing performance before and after the intervention. Results indicate a positive influence of the memetic approach in conjunction with internet plus tools on the writing proficiency of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) students. Despite its success, Islamic banking faces challenges, especially in developing products that meet both Shariah principles and market demands. The hiyal (legal stratagem) approach has been employed to bridge this gap, although its usage has raised concerns about Shariah compliance, particularly accusations of facilitating riba (interest). This study explores the factors influencing the adoption of hiyal in Islamic banking product development in Malaysia. A qualitative methodology was employed, using semi-structured interviews with eight practitioners, including Shariah executives and Shariah committee members from various Islamic banks. The study revealed that the use of hiyal is driven by the need to meet regulatory, Shariah, and market demands. However, practitioners acknowledge that its application can lead to ethical concerns, potentially undermining customer trust. The findings highlight the importance of transparent Shariah governance and regulatory oversight in maintaining consumer confidence in Islamic banking products.

Keywords: hiyal; legal stratagem; Shariah compliance; product development; Islamic banking
Faiqah Mohd Sokris, Ab Rahim Ibrahim, Sazelin Arif Copyright (c) 2024 https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6467 Sun, 16 Jun 2024 00:00:00 +0000 THE SINERGY OF KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS DURING HOUSEMANSHIP https://jhcd.utem.edu.my/jhcd/article/view/6429
Housemanship, also known as medical student learning, emphasizes the coherence of knowledge and competence over the course of two years. This study had four goals: I determine the level of knowledge; (ii) determine the level of skill; (iii) investigate the relationship between trainee doctors' knowledge and skills; and (iv) develop a synergy framework for trainee doctors during housemanship. A simple random sample method was used to distribute questionnaires to respondents. There were 303 responses from trainee doctors from three Johore hospitals. The outcomes were evaluated using both descriptive and inferential methods. Pilot tests, confirmatory factor analysis, normality tests, and Kolmogorov-Smirnov tests were among the other analyses carried out by the researchers. The studies revealed that the levels of the instruments reach and are normally distributed. The objective illustration demonstrates that trainee doctors demonstrated advanced knowledge and skills. Finally, researchers discovered that during housemanship, a trainee doctor's knowledge and skill have a significant correlation.

Keywords: housemanship, organizational learning, knowledge, skills, framework model of knowledge, skill synergy
Nor Shela Saleh, Mohd Shafie Rosli, Suaibah Abu Bakar, Azlah Md.
