Abstract

Kesantunan bahasa merupakan ciri penting bangsa yang bertamadun dalam memperlihatkan ketinggian pemikirannya. Kesantunan berkait rapat dengan kebijaksanaan menyusun bahasa yang halus dan bersopan melalui luahan perasaan terutamanya dalam berkomunikasi dan berinteraksi. Dalam usaha kerajaan membentuk warganegara 1Malaysia yang berjati diri, memelihara adab dan kesopanan serta bertamadun tinggi, kesantunan berbahasa sewajarnya menjadi amalan seluruh rakyat. Dalam konteks kajian ini, sejumlah 400 orang yang terdiri daripada pelatih Program Latihan Khidmat Negara (PLKN) mengikut empat zon (Kedah, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Kelantan dan Johor) telah dipilih sebagai responden berdasarkan kaedah persampelan rawak mudah. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan konsep kesantunan telah diaplikasikan dalam aktiviti PLKN.

ABSTRACT

 

Language politeness is an important feature of the civilized nation in examining the level of his thinking. The politeness is closely linked to the wisdom of setting a subtle and courteous language through feelings of emotions especially in communicating and interacting. In the government's effort to form a self-sustaining 1Malaysia citizen, maintaining manners and politeness and civilization, the politeness of language should be the practice of the whole people. In the context of this study, a total of 400 people comprising trainees from the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) in four zones (Kedah, Selangor Darul Ehsan, Kelantan and Johor) were selected as respondents based on simple random sampling methods. The findings show that the concept of politeness has been applied in PLKN activities.
