PEMBINAAN MODEL BERSTRUKTUR PENYESUAIAN AKADEMIK DALAM KALANGAN PELAJAR (CONSTRUCTION OF ACADEMIC ADJUSTMENT STRUCTURE MODEL AMONG STUDENTS)
Abstract
Kajian ini bertujuan untuk membina model penyesuaian akademik dalam kalangan pelajar di Institut Pendidikan Guru Malaysia. Model Persamaan Berstruktur Kuasa Dua Terkecil Separa (MPB-KTS) digunakan untuk menilai kebagusan item-item yang digunakan dari aspek kesahan serta kebolehpercayaan dan seterusnya membina model penyesuaian akademik. Instrumen kajian telah diedarkan kepada 100 orang pelajar Persediaan Program Ijazah Sarjana Muda Perguruan (PPISMP) major Pendidikan Matematik di IPGM. Item kajian diterjemah dan diadaptasi daripada ‘Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire’ (SACQ). Penilaian kesahan dilakukan berdasar kepada kesahan konstruk dan kesahan menumpu item-item pengukuran. Seterusnya, kebolehpercayaan gubahan dinilai melalui ketekalan dalaman berdasarkan nilai cronbach alpha dan kesahan pembeza. Keputusan statistik menunjukkan bahawa konstruk pendam motivasi paling mempengaruhi penyesuaian akademik dalam kalangan pelajar diikuti dengan keadaan perkembangan. Justeru itu, bagi memperbaiki tahap penyesuaian pelajar, dapatan kajian boleh digunakan oleh pihak IPGM, BPG, pensyarah dan seterusnya para pelajar.

ABSTRACTS
This purpose of this study is to develop a model of academic adjustment among students in Institute of Teachers’ Training in Malaysia. The Structural Equation Model by Partial Least Squares was used to measure goodness of items in terms of validity and reliability. Then, the model of academic adjustment was developed in this study. The data were obtained by distributing a questionnaire to 100 students of Preparatory Programme Bachelor of Teaching (PPISMP) majoring Mathematics Education in Institute of Teachers’ Training. The items were translated and adapted from ‘Student Adaptation to College Questionnaire’ (SACQ). The validity evaluation of items measured was done based on construct validity and convergent validity. In contrast, composite reliability is a method used in this study to evaluate items reliability through internal consistency and discriminant validity. The statistics result depending on the outcome measure revealed that motivation emerged as the best predictor or latent construct in influencing academic adjustment among students followed by current situation. The findings from this study would recommend the administrators of Teacher Education Division, Institute of Teachers’ Training, lecturers and students to adopt strategies in acknowledging students’ feelings towards academic adjustment in their institution.
