ABSTRACT
This case study is conducted to detail out the narrative, or story, application among the Malay language teachers. Previous studies indicate that narratives or stories have been a research interest abroad, and it has been applied in various areas for teaching and learning. However, the application involves only the primary school education. Domestically, the narrative or story is carried out in primary schools, even pre-schools. As such, this investigation looks into the perceptions of the secondary Malay language teachers on the narrative or story, as well as its application in the secondary schools. Semi-structured face-to-face interviews were conducted with two Malay language teachers, who have the experience teaching the subject for 12 and five years respectively. Generally, the respondents have positive perspectives towards the narrative or story application at the secondary school level. However, they concur that its application should be tailored according to the level of intelligence of the students, and it is suitable for only some subjects.
