Abstract

Abstract
(INTERPERSONAL COMPETENCY AMONG UNIVERSITY UNDERGRADUATES BASED ON THE MCLAGAN MODEL OF HUMAN RESOURCES DEVELOPMENT (HRD) PRACTICE)
This research aims to identify the levels in the application and mastery of the interpersonal competency elements amongst the technical and vocational undergraduates of Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia. The seven indicators in the application and mastery of interpersonal competency which include training skills, feedback skills, questioning skills, teamwork skills, discussion skills, presentation skills as well as writing skills based on McLagan HRD practice-based model were specifically studied. A total of 66 respondents were selected to answer survey questionnaires. Collected data was analyzed based on frequency, percentage, mean, level-based rating and Pearson Correlation. Findings indicate that teamwork skills record the highest level in terms of the application and mastery of interpersonal competency. It is also evident that there is no correlation between the levels in the application and mastery of interpersonal competency among the undergraduates. There is also no correlation between the competency application level and the educational background of the undergraduates. Hence, this study proposes several suggestions to upgrade the interpersonal competencies of the undergraduates.
