Abstract

Pembangunan ICT yang dilaksanakan oleh Malaysia seolah-olah menyebabkan belia Orang Asli semakin jauh dari arus pembangunan perdana negara. Kajian ini dilaksanakan bagi mengenal pasti nilai belia Orang Asli terhadap ICT. Seramai 24 orang belia Orang Asli dari kampong Orang Asli Bukit Lanjan dan Pulau Carey Selangor telah terlibat yang dipilih dengan menggunakan pendekatan variasi maksimum. Kajian ini mengaplikasikan pendekatan triangulasi data yang mana data dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan sumber yang berbeza iaitu temu bual mendalam, temu bual kumpulan berfokus dan pemerhatian tidak turut serta. Hasil kajian mendapati belia Orang Asli mempunyai nilai khusus terhadap ICT. Nilai tersebut ialah nilai rangsangan, nilai keselamatan, nilai keakuran, nilai universalisme dan nilai hedonisme. Justeru kajian menunjukkan pembangunan yang dilaksanakan oleh kerajaan telah berjaya disampaikan kepada belia Orang Asli. Oleh demikian, pembangunan ke atas Orang Asli perlu terus dilaksanakan berasaskan prinsip ketekalan dan berhemah.

ABSTRACT

 

ICT development implemented in Malaysia seems to be causing the indigenous youths to go further from the country’s main stream development. This study was conducted to identify the indigenous youths’ appreciation towards ICT. A total of 24 indigenous youths from Bukit Lanjan and Carey Island, Selangor was selected by using the maximum variation sampling. This research uses the triangulation approach where data is collected by using different sources of in-depth interviews, focus group interviews and non-participating observations. The study found that the indigenous youths have a special appreciation towards ICT. The appreciation includes the appreciation of the stimulus, the appreciation of security, the appreciation of the conformity, the appreciation of universalism and the appreciation of hedonism. Hence the study shows the development carried out by the government has been successfully delivered to the indigenous youths. The development towards the indigenous youths should continue to be implemented with consistence and prudence.
