Kecerdasan Emosi dan Kesannya Terhadap Prestasi Kerja: Satu Tinjauan di Sebuah Universiti Awam Malaysia (Emotional Intelligence and Its Effect on Job Performance: A Survey At One Public University in Malaysia)

Abstract

Abstrak. Kecerdasan emosi sering dikaitkan dengan peningkatan prestasi kerja pekerja dalam organisasi. Sehubungan dengan itu, kajian ini dijalankan untuk mengkaji kesan kecerdasan emosi terhadap prestasi kerja dalam kalangan pekerja kumpulan sokongan di sebuah universiti awam Malaysia. Seramai 110 orang pekerja telah terlibat sebagai responden kajian. Alat-alat pengukuran yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data merangkumi Soal Selidik Kecerdasan Emosi Ringkas (TEIQue SF) dan Instrumen Prestasi Kerja oleh Rabindra dan Lalatendu (2017). Data kajian dianalisis dengan menggunakan analisis deskriptif dan inferensi. Dapatan kajian menunjukkan bahawa terdapat kesan yang lemah dan signifikan antara kecerdasan emosi dengan prestasi kerja dalam kalangan responden kajian. Akhirnya, beberapa perkara telah dicadangkan untuk organisasi dan untuk pengkaji-pengkaji akan datang.

Abstract. Emotional intelligence is always associated with the improvement of employees’ job performance in organizations. As a matter of fact, this research aims to investigate the effect of emotional intelligence on job performance among support staff at one public university in Malaysia. A total of 110 employees were involved as the respondents of the study. The measurement tools undertaken in data collection include the Trait Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire Short Form (TEIQue SF) and the Job Performance Instrument by Rabindra dan Lalatendu (2017). The data of the study were analysed using descriptive and inferential analysis. The findings of the study reveal that there was a weak and significant effect of emotional intelligence on job performance among the studied respondents. Lastly, recommendations were also given for the studied organization and future research.
